Service templates
Firm owners and admins use Service templates to define reusable service structures before those services are used on items or client records.
Employees with template access can also use this guide; see Permissions and Visibility if Service templates or an action is hidden.
Set up service templates
Section titled “Set up service templates”- Open Settings.
- Open Templates.
- Select Service templates.
- Add a template, or open an existing template to update it.
- Enter Template Name.
- Choose Client Type if the template is only for one client type.
- Choose one or more Reporting Periods.
- Set Status.
- Add Sub Categories if your firm groups the service into smaller categories.
- Choose Fiscal Year Type. If you choose a custom fiscal year, enter the fiscal year value and decide whether to lock it.
- Use the Meta Fields table for extra fields the service should collect. Each row can include a key, label, required setting, type, and options.
- Select Add or Update.
A service template is not a price list. It describes the reusable service structure: who it applies to, which reporting periods it supports, which subcategories or fiscal-year rules apply, and which extra fields should be collected when the service is used.
Use service templates with items
Section titled “Use service templates with items”Accounting > Items can optionally link an item to a service template. In the item form, use Select Service to choose the template.
After a service template is selected, Service Type is filtered to the reporting periods from that template. The item form also shows Attach Custom Form, so the item can carry a form when that service context is selected.
Use this when an item should behave like a reusable service line instead of a simple fee or charge.
Use service templates with client services
Section titled “Use service templates with client services”Client service setup uses service templates directly. When you choose a service template on a client record, Assisterp uses the template to populate the available frequency choices, tag options, and meta fields for that client service.
Review the populated fields before saving. A template gives the service a starting structure, but the saved client service still needs to match the client’s real work.
Do not confuse this with Service Settings
Section titled “Do not confuse this with Service Settings”Organization > Service Settings is a different page. It stores government due-date offsets by service tag code. Service templates define the reusable service structure used by items and client services.
